WHAT'S INCLUDED WITH MY PUPPY?

We added this page to our site hoping to answer most questions asked regarding "what's included with my puppy?" and "how do you determine your prices?"  The following table represents what is included, and how we determine our prices.

Health Guarantee

 Vaccinations

After careful consideration, and many conversations with veterinary professionals, we have implemented a vaccination protocol that allows your puppy's immune system to get a better start from the antibodies that mom has given it.  Your puppy's 1st vaccine will be given at 8 weeks of age.  Great Danes need more time to build their immune system and this gives them a good start.  Many breeders will vaccinate their puppies starting at the fragile age of 4 weeks.  This only weakens the immune system and compromises all antibodies the puppy's body has received from mom.  We also STRONGLY recommend that a Rabies vaccine be given no sooner than 6 months of age, and should be given as a single vaccine, not bundled with other vaccinations.  Here are a few articles regarding vaccines that you might take the time to read: AAHA vaccine guidelines; Prevention Magazine; W. Jean Dodds, DVM

Dewclaws Removed

Your puppy will have it's dewclaws removed for safety reasons between 3-5 days of age by our veterinarian.  Also, if your puppy is to be shown in the conformation ring, this is a requirement.

Deworming

Your puppy will be given a dewormer medication starting at 2 weeks of age and continued at 2 week intervals for the control of intestinal parasites.  A fecal exam will be completed for the entire litter before each puppy leaves.

AKC Registration

Each litter is registered with The American Kennel Club.  Your puppy will have an assigned AKC number.  Limited registration will be given by us, the breeder, unless you have been approved for Full registration.  Papers will be mailed, for Limited registration upon receipt of written proof by a licensed vet that the puppy has been spayed/neutered; if approved for Full registration, papers are provided after puppy has been shipped or at the time of pick up.    Why should I register my new puppy with AKC?  Go to this link to read all the benefits for registering your new puppy!

Puppy Packet

A puppy packet will be mailed to you if your puppy is being shipped, or given to you at the time of pick up.  Included in your puppy packet is:  health record (so your vet can see what's been done), sire and dam's pedigrees, our feeding guidelines, puppy training tips, signed health contract, and a sample of food that your puppy has been eating.

Grooming

Your puppy will have all the necessary grooming exposure, bathing, nail trimming, and ear cleaning.

Socializing

We expose all our puppies to the following:  older children (we do not have small children), other dogs, livestock, different surfaces (grass, concrete, dirt), using doggie doors to go outside, crates and car ride to the vet.  Important, our puppies do not leave our premises except to go to their vet exams.

Nutrition

Your puppy will be on an all natural diet from weaning age until it leaves here.  We feed holistic formulas that have been proven in this breed to develop strong bone and lean muscle.  These are premium diets and costs more than the average commercial diet.  We recommend these diets to be continued for your puppy's lifetime.  All of our adults eat the same diet along with some raw diets offered by the same manufacturers.  We budget each month so that we can afford to feed the best because we believe this is their foundation for good health.  Our feeding guidelines will be provided with the purchase of your puppy.

Updates/Pictures

I will update you often on your puppies progress.  I will take pictures and post them on our website so you can see them grow.  We also provide video from time to time so you can see them in action!  I have decided to start a Facebook Page where all new owners can become a Fan and see pictures updated almost instantly, as well as video.  I will link that page here once it becomes available.

Lifetime Breeder's Support

I am available any time to answer questions or just hear the funny stories about your new puppy!  Feel free to email me or call me.  I will respond.  Remember, I am a veterinary nurse, however, I am not a vet.  I am limited to what I can do with my license.  I will ALWAYS refer you to your vet for medical conditions or problems.  I do not diagnose, but I can help guide you in the areas specific to this breed.

Shipping

We do offer shipping through Continental Airlines anywhere in the United States.  Puppies fly out of DFW Airport.  I will handle all flight arrangements.  The cost of shipping is $350.00, this includes crate, travel exam, and airfare.  We will also deliver within a reasonable distance to our ranch.  A fuel charge may be billed for this, depending on location.

OPTIONAL:

Ear Cropping

We do not necessarily recommend ear cropping, but we do have a wonderful vet in the DFW area that we can recommend to do this procedure.  This does NOT guarantee your dogs ears will stand!

Health Insurance

If you register your dog with AKC, you will receive a complimentary 90 day trial healthcare plan!
